In August I told you I'd be teaching MBSR live this October.
It's nearly here. And I've made a couple of changes to give it a proper start.
A free intro first
On Tuesday 20 October I'm running a free intro session on Zoom. That's Monday evening if you're in the US.
It's about 45 minutes, with a Q&A at the end, and I'll stay on longer if the questions keep coming. I'll explain how the course works and what you'd be signing up for, we'll do a short practice together, and you can ask me anything.
It's open to everyone. Come along, and decide if you want to sign up after that.

What MBSR is
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is the eight-week mindfulness and meditation course Jon Kabat-Zinn started in 1979. Nearly fifty years on, it's still the most researched mindfulness course in the world.
It isn't an app and a nice voice!! It's a teacher, a group and a structure. By the end of the course, you’ll have a daily practice that stands on its own, and a much clearer view of where your stress starts and what keeps it going.
The bit I've thought about most
MBSR normally asks for 30 to 45 minutes of practice a day.
If you can do that, wonderful.
But I know a lot of us are already running on empty. And I don't want this course to become one more thing you feel you're failing at!
So here's what I'll actually ask of you. At least 10 minutes a day, and one longer practice of 30 to 45 minutes each week. I'll give you the recordings for both.
I'd much rather you did ten minutes every day than felt guilty about not doing forty-five!
The details
Every session is Tuesday at 9am in Sydney, which is Monday evening in the US
Free intro: Tuesday 20 October
Lesson 1: Tuesday 27 October
Lessons 2-8, finishing Tuesday 15 December
1.5 to 2 hours each, live on Zoom
New York: 6pm start for the intro and Lesson 1, then 5pm from 2 November (US clocks go back on the 1st)
Los Angeles: 3pm start, then 2pm from 2 November
London: 11pm for the intro, then 10pm from Lesson 1
The teaching and the guided practices are recorded, so you can catch up if you miss a week, or if 9am Sydney is the middle of the night where you live. Group discussions are never recorded.
It's the MBSR curriculum, adapted for online, so there's no full-day silent retreat in this one.
And one thing to note. I may need to skip a week somewhere in the middle. If I do, we'll finish on 22 December instead, and I'll rerun the last lesson in January for anyone who can't make it.
Two ways to join
I'd suggest you join Tired & Wired, my online community. It's $49 USD a month with a free 7-day trial. The MBSR course is included, along with a live class with me, my burnout and sleep courses, and my whole meditation library.
Three months covers the whole course, so that's $147. You can cancel when it finishes (or the group becomes an invaluable part of your life and you can't bear to leave! Or you forget to cancel, of course 😂 Honestly though, if that happens, just let me know and I'll refund the extra month).
The price goes up to $59 a month for new members on Wednesday, 21 October, the day after the free intro. Join before then, and you keep $49 for as long as you stay.
Or, if you'd rather not have a subscription, you can pay once for the course on its own. It's $250.
Both ways to join are at chibs.co/mbsr.
If you're already a Tired & Wired member, you're already in. The course is in your calendar, and there's nothing else to do.
And if you replied to my email in August to hold a place, I've been in touch with you personally. If you didn’t receive an email from me, please let me know.
See you on the 20th, I hope 😊
Chibs 💙
PS. Not sure it's for you? That's what the free intro is for. Come and have a look → chibs.co/mbsr
